Day of Remembrance November 11, 2018


The Ellinwood Community Historical Society and the American Legion Hines-Gossman Post 320 invite you to join us on November 11, 2018 for a Day of Remembrance.  On this day, we will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice ending WWI.  This Armistice was signed on the 11th day of 11th month the 11 hour.  Church bells in Ellinwood will ring, as well as the old fire bell, at that time this year.  At 3PM the Legion will open, with WWI displays from the Museum  Of Ellinwood, including research on the 65 men from Ellinwood who were in the war.

We have 9 binders that contain military info on each soldier as well as family information.  Linda McCaffery will give a presentation, which will speak on the scope of the war from how we got into it and it effect on the world and local society at around 4:15 PM.  The Mystic Blues will perform a selection of period songs and a Buffet style dinner will follow.
